Klavs Zarins was the inimitable manager of the ‘Proton’ electronic patient record system at the Edinburgh renal unit. In the early 1980s this was one of the first electronic patient record systems, widely used in renal units. It allowed local configuration, and Klavs programmed the Edinburgh/Fife installation to show a different quote each time you logged in, curating his quote collection over some years.
When Proton was going to be succeeded by a new system (Vitaldata) around 25 years after its original creation, Klavs’s table of quotes was ported to here, with a few additions. A random quote appears on the front page (bottom right). The full list can be explored below.
